New Member Orientation
Applicants for Greater Nashville REALTORS® membership must complete two New Member Training Requirements; New Member Orientation and Code of Ethics. These requirements must be completed within the first 90 days of applying for membership. The New Member Orientation is in classroom format only and the Code of Ethics course may be completed either by attending at the Greater Nashville REALTORS® or an online option offered through the National Association of REALTORS®. The ethics portion meets the National Association of REALTORS® requirement that all REALTORS® complete an approved ethics training between Jan. 1, 2019 and Dec. 31, 2020. Click here to view 2019 New Member Orientation course dates.
Orientation classes are held from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. unless noted as night classes. Day orientation includes light snack. Night orientation is held from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. and includes a light dinner. You must attend 100% of the class.
Course for New Affiliate Brokers
The Course for New Affiliate Brokers must be taken prior to licensure. Greater Nashville REALTORS® offers an online course for new affiliates that includes: Listings, Agency, Contracts, Fair Housing, Anti-Trust, Laws, Rules and Policies of the Tennessee Real Estate Commission, Property Management, Ethics, Etiquette and Closing.
Office and Brokerage Management Course for Broker Candidates
The 30-hour Office and Brokerage Management Course is required for all affiliate brokers who want to sit for the broker’s exam. The candidate for the broker’s license must successfully complete the Office and Brokerage Management Course prior to sitting for the Broker’s exam. All four modules (Theories in Management; Documents, Agreements and Methods of Control; Tennessee License Law, Agency, Fair Housing, Disclosure; Estates and Interests, Tenancies and Brokerage, Finance and Math) must be completed in order to receive course credit. Greater Nashville REALTORS® offers this course online. Check with the Tennessee Real Estate Commission for other course providers.
TREC Core 19/20 Course
TREC Core 19/20 is a specific six-hour course required by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission of certain licensees in order to renew a license. Only one TREC Core course will count for credit in each licensing cycle. Greater Nashville REALTORS® offers the course in the classroom and online. Agents who must complete continuing education must take the TREC Core course and elective hours for a total of 16 hours. There are no substitutions for the TREC Core course. (Note: TREC Core is not the same as the Code of Ethics course.)
Affiliate Brokers licensed before July 1, 1980 and Brokers licensed before January 1, 2005 are not required to take the TREC Core course.
