It has been just over a week since the National Association of Realtors (NAR) unveiled a proposed settlement agreement aimed at resolving litigation regarding broker commissions on behalf of home sellers. But what does this mean for you, the consumer?

In the national economic landscape, the latest job figures paint a mixed picture. According to Dr. Lawrence Yun, the Chief Economist at the National Association of Realtors, February saw a solid addition of 275,000 net new payroll jobs.

This morning, the National Association of REALTORS® reached a proposed settlement agreement that would end litigation of claims brought on behalf of home sellers related to broker commissions. The agreement would resolve claims against NAR, over one million NAR members, all state/territorial and local REALTOR® associations, all association-owned Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), and all brokerages with an NAR member as principal that had a residential transaction volume in 2022 of $2 billion or below. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 7, 2024) – There were 2,247 home closings reported for the month of February, according to figures provided by Greater Nashville REALTORS®. This figure is up 3 percent from the 2,186 closings reported for the same period last year.
