Our communities are once again grappling with the devastation of a catastrophic event.
Just a few short weeks ago, tragedy struck the city of Nashville and surrounding areas when a deadly EF-2 tornado touched down in Nashville on Saturday, December 9, traveling at speeds of 130 mph.
This weather event devastated communities across 11 counties throughout West and Middle Tennessee, leaving homes and businesses destroyed and lives lost.
The National Weather Service confirmed that seven tornadoes had touched down in Middle Tennessee, resulting in the deaths of six people and sending 83 to hospitals.
Our neighbors to the north in Clarksville experienced the strongest and deadliest of the tornadoes, with winds reaching 150 mph. Three people lost their lives, and 62 were injured.
Greater Nashville Realtors is devastated by the loss of life and destruction to our neighbors across the region from this recent catastrophe, and our hearts are with all who were affected by it.
While the road to recovery will be long and difficult, our Realtor community is ready to assist all those impacted.
In an effort to ensure that the real estate community never says no to a neighbor in need, the Realtors Relief Foundation was created over 20 years ago to provide housing-related assistance to disaster-impacted communities through the generosity of Realtors, state and local associations, and industry partners.
Since then, the Realtor community has provided aid to thousands across the country affected by disasters. From wildfires in California, the devastating flooding from Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, to the recent tornadoes, the Realtors Relief Foundation has, and will continue to be, a resource for those in need.
The REALTORS® Relief Foundation is now accepting applications from Tennesseans who experienced damage from the tornado that tore through Tennessee on December 9, 2023. Funds will be made available to the public to assist with disaster victims' housing payments as relief and recovery efforts continue. The impacted counties include Gibson, Weakley, Stewart, Montgomery, Trousdale, Wilson, Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Sumner, and Robertson counties. To apply for assistance, please email a completed application that can be found at tnrealtors.com or greaternashvillerealtors.org to kristen.mosley@tnrealtors.org.
