As I prepare to close this chapter of my career as president of an association representing nearly 7,000 Realtors across Middle Tennessee, I want to leave you with a message that has resonated with me more deeply than ever.
Realtors play a vital role in the lives of individuals, families, and entire communities. Over the past year, I’ve seen firsthand how much we bring to the table—not just as professionals guiding buyers and sellers through complex transactions, but as trusted advisors, advocates, and champions for homeownership.
At the heart of it all, our mission is simple: to serve the best interest of the consumer. Whether representing buyers or sellers, Realtors strive for excellence, working to make homeownership attainable, manageable, and rewarding. It’s a goal I’ve personally worked toward for over 16 years, helping countless clients navigate what is often the largest and most meaningful purchase of their lives.
Through those experiences, I’ve seen the life-changing impact that homeownership creates: families settling into a space of their own, building roots, and investing in a brighter future. But this year, serving as president of this association, I’ve gained an even deeper appreciation for the broader role Realtors play in our region.
The real estate industry drives substantial economic impact on a local, state, and national level – contributing between 15-18% of the overall GDP in the U.S. Realtors aren’t just helping people find homes—they’re helping families build generational wealth, strengthening neighborhoods, and fostering growing communities.
In a year of economic uncertainty, rising rates, and shifting markets, Realtors in Middle Tennessee alone guided over 31,000 people through the process of becoming homeowners. That’s 31,000 individuals and families who relied on the expertise, insight, and unwavering support of their Realtor to make one of life’s biggest decisions.
It’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly. Realtors are more than just transaction facilitators—we’re problem solvers, market experts, and partners in your journey to homeownership. Whether it’s answering tough questions, negotiating the best outcome, or simply offering reassurance during uncertain moments, our job is to provide clarity and confidence every step of the way.
As I reflect on this year, I’m incredibly proud of the work our Realtors have done to serve Middle Tennessee. To the buyers, sellers, and homeowners who have trusted us with their journeys—thank you. And to my fellow Realtors, thank you for your dedication to this profession and to those we serve.
Homeownership remains one of the most meaningful and impactful achievements in life. As we look ahead to a new year, I know Realtors across our region will continue to lead with expertise, integrity, and heart—helping even more people turn their dreams of homeownership into reality.
