Greater Nashville Realtors

Education Requirements

NAR Education Requirements

Association bylaws require all REALTORS® to complete a Code of Ethics course AND a Fair Housing course within NAR’s mandated three-year cycle. NAR's current Code of Ethics and Fair Housing cycle began January 1, 2025 and ends on December 31, 2027. Members who do not complete a Code of Ethics class AND a Fair Housing class by December 31, 2027 will be suspended from membership and lose their rights and privileges associated with their membership.

TREC Requirements

The Tennessee Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires licensees to complete a total of 16 hours of continuing education every license term. Your license term begins two years before the expiration date listed on your license.

TREC requires licensees to complete a TREC Core class every license term which counts for 6 of the required 16 hours. The remaining 10 continuing education hours can consist of any other TREC-approved real estate course(s).

Beginning in 2026, TREC Core will be offered free of charge to all Greater Nashville REALTORS® members.

You may contact the Professional Development Department with any additional questions regarding TREC's education requirements.
