Mayor John Cooper recently announced the creation of the Landlord Risk Mitigation Fund, which was designed to assist Nashville families struggling with housing costs as well as provide more financial security to rental property owners.
Metro government, in partnership with United Way, established this fund for landlords who accept housing subsidies and agree to enter one-year leases with tenants who transition out of homelessness. It seeks to incentivize landlords to assist these residents in transitioning to permanent housing. Our own Vice President, Waddell Wright, was recently quoted in the press release about this program:
"My experience has been great - it's always been a purpose of mine to create strong viable and sustainable communities," Wright said. "We can't forget that we, as property developers, shelter humans, all humans. I urge all landlords, developers, and property managers to pitch in and help house our neighbors, many who are vulnerable and weary, as we work to be a thriving, healthy city."
