NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 27, 2024) – As Nashville’s growth continues to accelerate, the city’s infrastructure is increasingly under pressure. The upcoming November 5 ballot presents a pivotal opportunity to address this challenge through dedicated transit funding—a move that Greater Nashville Realtors strongly supports.

“Dedicated transit funding is not just about improving our city’s transportation; it’s about preserving Nashville’s quality of life and ensuring that our community remains accessible and affordable for everyone,” said Kevin Wilson, Greater Nashville Realtors President. “This referendum is a vital step towards a sustainable future.”

Nashville remains one of the largest U.S. cities without dedicated funding for mass transit. This gap not only threatens to exacerbate congestion but also risks the city’s ability to maintain its status as a desirable place to live and work. Addressing this issue through dedicated funding is critical to supporting the region’s growth and directly influencing the affordability and accessibility of housing.

This comprehensive plan has something for everyone. "Choose How You Move" will construct an additional 86 miles of sidewalks throughout Nashville, update nearly 600 AI-generated smart traffic signals, provide more frequent and reliable transit service, and more.

In addition to alleviating traffic congestion, dedicated transit funding is expected to have a positive impact on Nashville's housing market. By improving accessibility to various neighborhoods, the initiative could potentially increase the value of properties and make it easier for residents to find affordable housing options. "Our members understand that a well-connected city is not just more livable but also more equitable," said Wilson.

“The future of Nashville hinges on our collective actions,” added Wilson. “We have a unique opportunity on November 5 to shape our city’s future by supporting this plan. Greater Nashville Realtors strongly encourages every resident to vote in favor of dedicated transit funding—a practical, necessary solution for our thriving community.”
