The fourth quarter, for many agents, can mean that business starts to slow as we head into the holiday season. While this can be a great time to finally take that vacation you've been putting off or visit family you haven't seen in a while, let's not forget that it's also a great time to be working on your business. Below are a few ideas for things to be working on if you find you have some extra time on your hands.

2025 Goal Setting: Q4 is a great time to review what worked and what didn't work in your business this past year, set goals for 2025, and create a plan for how you will achieve those goals in the new year.

Tax Prep: Start to gather receipts and/or expenses from this past year or at least know where you can find the information. Take inventory of your mileage, especially if you haven't already been tracking it, and don't forget to set aside money for tax season. Most 1099 professionals wind up owing unless you've been filing quarterly or have a skilled tax professional strategizing with you. Own an LLC? Congratulations! You're now required to file a BOIR report before January 1 or receive a fine for each day it is late.

Marketing: This is a great time to plan out your social media strategy, film content, and/or print content that you plan to use in the new year. Do you do pop-bys with clients? Plan them out now and take advantage of holiday sales to stock up on small gifts & marketing materials.

Collateral and System Updates: If you haven't already updated your buyer/seller guides, presentations, and overall systems, Q4 is a great time to do it! A lot has changed in our industry since August 17, so if you haven't touched your presentations/guides/systems since then, I guarantee they could use a refresh.

Vacations: Don't forget to map out your vacation time now, or at least have a plan for how much vacation you want to take next year. If you don't plan for it, you might not take it, and let's be honest, you work hard! You deserve some time off.
