Embracing Change in an evolving world

As Heraclitus of Ephesus famously quoted the only constant is change, there is one lesson I will undoubtedly carry with me into 2026 after my year serving as president of Greater Nashville Realtors. Leaning into the inevitable obstacles that will arise to enact meaningful change is an essential step toward progress.

In this final column for our readers, it is clear from my vantage point that 2025 was a year defined by pivots, reflection, and, at times, scrutiny. While the process of intense self-examination as an association was at times uncomfortable, when our new ideas aligned with our clear mission and vision, we knew we had made significant progress.

The most successful people and organizations are those that never stand still. They embrace change well before it arrives. and don’t wait to react to it unprepared.

That has certainly been the case for Greater Nashville Realtors throughout my presidency and over a decade as a member of this incredible organization serving nearly 7,000 Realtors across Middle Tennessee.

Throughout the year, I have raised concerns about housing affordability, the value Realtors bring to consumers, and the importance of a strong Realtor association. These challenges will persist, and we will continue to be a catalyst for the betterment of our community. As I reflect on my time as president, I do so with pride for our organization and its membership. The work accomplished this year represents meaningful steps forward as we look to realize some long-term goals in 2026 and beyond.

As I pass the gavel, I feel a deep appreciation for the personal, and professional growth that evolved in tandem with the responsibility I held this year. I am confident that incoming president Jack Gaughan is well equipped to lead this association with purpose and vision. He will champion the rights of both consumers and REALTORS® through targeted strategy and advocacy.

In closing out the year, if you find yourself feeling stuck, whether personally, professionally, or as one of the many who have been sidelined from homeownership, know that progress often begins with persistence. Continue pressing forward, look for the hidden opportunities, and set a new path that can evolve toward achieving your goals.

Thank you to all the readers for joining me on this journey throughout 2025. I hope that 2026 brings you peace, prosperity, and new goals to pursue.
