Purpose:

To serve as a supplement to the services of the Greater Nashville REALTORS® in upgrading professional business practices and standards in commercial and investment real estate brokerage through ongoing education and communication.

• To unite REALTORS® engaged in buying, selling, renting or leasing for others the lands, buildings and other facilities involved in the commercial and investment real estate business.
• To facilitate communication and relationships with commercial and residential REALTORS®.
• To foster knowledge, education, and integrity in the fields of commercial and investment real estate business.
• To encourage networking relating to the practice of commercial and investment brokerage among the members of the Commercial Committee through quarterly committee meetings, commercial forums and/or other sponsored events.

2025 Objectives: Determine the most effective manner of engaging commercial agents and discuss the need for and role of this committee in their engagement.

Awards of Excellence Involvement Credits: Attendees will receive 1 awards involvement credit per forum. 

Legislative & Local Government Forum

2025 Information

2025 Forum Chair: Mark Sharp

Purpose:

• The forum is an opportunity to educate members on the workings of government (all three levels with a focus on local), planning, codes, etc…  
• The forum serves as a training platform for agents interested in moving up to the Government Affairs & Policy Committee.
• The forum serves as an incubator for REALTOR® members to bring forth ideas for local housing and zoning policy that align with our strategic plan.  
• Legislative training/education for REALTORS®
• Engagement with guest panels that represent regional initiatives
• Provide information on boards and appointments through the Mayor’s office such as BZA, Equalization, Sports Authority etc. and how members can engage on those boards

Leadership/ Makeup:

• Forum held quarterly, and is planned and executed by Forum Chair & Vice Chair, appointed by the President and President-Elect.
• Attendance by Government Affairs and Policy Committee members is highly recommended.
• Members on the forum are expected to attend 75% of the annual forum sessions.
• Forums will be scheduled for 1.5 hours.
